RHP Xavier Altamirano turned in his third straight quality start, allowing just 2 hits over 7 shutout innings to earn his 7th win as the Snappers won for the fifth time in their last six games on Thursday. RHPs Joseph Camacho and John Gorman each contributed 1 scoreless inning in relief to complete the 3-hit shutout. Shortstop Eric Marinez singled, doubled and drove in a run, while third baseman Trace Loehr tripled in 2 runs, and designated hitter Miguel Mercedes singled twice and drove in a pair for the Snappers.

RHP Zach Neal had a shaky start for the Sounds on Thursday, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits over just 3 2/3 innings to notch his 6th loss for Nashville. Third baseman Joey Wendle had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while first baseman Matt Olson singled, doubled and scored a run for the Sounds. And with Oakland catcher Josh Phegley landing on the disabled list, Nashville catcher Ryan Lavarnway was promoted to the A’s on Thursday.

The Rockhounds had their six-game winning streak snapped in Corpus Christi on Thursday. Starter Joel Seddon allowed 2 runs over 4 innings of work to suffer his 4th loss for Midland. Catcher Sean Murphy homered for the second straight game, and third baseman Jordan Tarsovich also homered to account for all the RockHounds’ runs in the loss.

LHP Brandon Marsonek, who was signed by the A’s out of Alabama A&M after going undrafted this year, was charged with 1 unearned run in 2 hitless innings of relief in his California League debut. Designated hitter Brett Siddall singled, doubled, walked and scored a run, while right fielder Seth Brown singled in a pair of runs for the Ports.

22-year-old Venezuelan LHP Ivan Andueza had a rare rough start for Vermont on Thursday, allowing 5 runs over 4 2/3 frames to suffer his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters. This year’s 8th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brian Howard, was solid in relief, throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings for Vermont. 36th-round center fielder Logan Farrar walked and doubled for the Lake Monsters in the loss. Meanwhile, 9th-round LHP Jared Poche was placed on the disabled list and 21-year-old Venezuelan LHP Jhenderson Hurtado returned to the team from the AZL A’s on Thursday.

19-year-old Dominican RHP Richard Jose Morban made the start and allowed 1 run over 3 1/3 innings of work on Thursday, while this year’s 31st-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brandon Withers, allowed 1 run in 1 inning of relief to suffer the loss in his pro debut for the A’s. 21-year-old Dominican left fielder Jhonny Rodriguez singled twice and walked, while 17-year-old Dominican second baseman Yerdel Vargas had 2 hits, including a double, and this year’s top draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Austin Beck, doubled in a run in the loss.
