LHP Sean Manaea, acquired from Kansas City in the Ben Zobrist trade, turned in another impressive start on Thursday, striking out 13 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 6th win for the RockHounds. And Manaea has now struck out 20 in 13 scoreless innings over his last 2 starts for Midland. RHP Brendan McCurry got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his his 6th save for the Hounds. Outfielder Chad Oberacker had 2 hits and a walk and stole a base, while catcher Beau Taylor had a pair of hits and drove in a run, and designated hitter Renato Nunez doubled in a run for the RockHounds.

In what was likely his last start of the season on Thursday, LHP Brad Mills had a rough outing for the Sounds, allowing 5 runs, 4 of them on a grand slam, over just 4 innings of work to take his 12th loss for Nashville. LHP Victor Veliz struck out 3 in 3 scoreless innings in just his second appearance for the Sounds, while RHP Ryan Brasier pitched 1 perfect inning in his Nashville debut, and RHP Taylor Thompson gave up 3 runs in just 1 inning of relief as the Sounds dropped their final home game of the season. Before the game, outfielder Jason Pridie was named Nashville’s most valuable player, second baseman Joey Wendle was named the team’s most popular player, and pitcher Pat Venditte was given the Sounds’ community service award.

RHP Dylan Covey turned in his third straight strong start for Stockton, allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 5 over 6 innings of work to earn his 8th win as the Ports clinched a playoff berth on Thursday. Covey has now allowed just 3 earned runs over his last 19 innings for Stockton. Catcher Jacob Nottingham had a big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including a home run, and driving in 4 runs, while shortstop Yairo Munoz reached base 5 times, on 3 singles, a double and a walk, and drove in a run, and outfielder B.J. Boyd singled, doubled, tripled and drove in 3 for the Ports.

Outfielder Joe Bennie collected 5 hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in a pair of runs, while catcher Argenis Raga had 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 5. First baseman Max Kuhn singled, walked and hit his 10th home run, and shortstop Mikey White singled, walked twice and drove in a pair for the Snappers. Starter Heath Fillmyer allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work to earn his 3rd win, while converted catcher Ryan Gorton struck out 5 in 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Koby Gauna got the final six outs for his 5th save.

First baseman Chris Iriart doubled in a run during Vermont’s 4-run 1st inning on Thursday. The Lake Monsters wouldn’t score the rest of the way and would only collect a total of 5 hits in the game, but that would be enough to win. Outfielders Seth Brown and Brett Siddall both singled and drove in runs. Starter Bowdien Derby allowed 1 unearned run and struck out 4 in 2 innings of work, while RHP John Gorman pitched 2 perfect frames to pick up the win, and LHP Andrew Tomasovich tossed 2 scoreless innings to earn his 1st save for the Lake Monsters.
