LHP Dillon Overton delivered a strong start for the Sounds on Wednesday, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work to earn his team-leading 11th win for Nashville. RHP Eduard Santos tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Bobby Wahl got the final three outs to post his 1st save for the Sounds. Shortstop Arismendy Alcantara homered in the 3rd inning to tie the game, while second baseman Joey Wendle slugged a three-run homer in the 6th to provide the margin of victory for Nashville. Designated hitter Renato Nunez drew a pair of walks and singled in a run in the 7th, and third baseman Matt Chapman went 0 for 4 in his Triple-A debut. And with Tyler Ladendorf landing on the disabled list for the A’s, Sounds shortstop Chad Pinder was promoted to Oakland on Wednesday.

Second Baseman J.P. Sportman

RHP Heath Fillmyer had his first rocky start since joining the RockHounds last month, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings of work, while RHP Sam Bragg threw 3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Trey Cochran-Gill surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning to take the loss for Midland on Wednesday. Second baseman J.P. Sportman singled, doubled and drove in all 3 of the RockHounds’ runs, while right fielder Tyler Marincov and first baseman Wade Kirkland both tripled, and left fielder James Harris, who was promoted from the Ports earlier in the day, went 0 for 4 in his Double-A debut.

RHP Brett Graves turned in his fifth straight solid start for Stockton, allowing just 1 run while striking out 6 over 5 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering his 9th loss on Wednesday. Third baseman Jose Brizuela had 3 hits, including a double, while first baseman Chris Iriart, who was promoted to the Ports from the Snappers, singled in Stockton’s sole run in his California League debut.

Prospect Of The Game:

Second Baseman Trent Gilbert

(2 for 5 / Double / 2 RBIs)

 

With two men on and the game tied in the top of the 5th inning on Wednesday, second baseman Trent Gilbert doubled in 2 runs to give the Snappers a lead they would not relinquish on Wednesday. Gilbert came around to score later in the same inning and also singled and scored in the 3rd. Right fielder Brett Siddall and designated hitter Skye Bolt both singled, doubled and drove in a pair for Beloit. After tossing 5 shutout innings in his last start, LHP Zack Erwin was a little shaky for the Snappers on Wednesday, surrendering 4 runs in just 3 2/3 innings of work. LHP Andrew Tomasovich picked up the win despite giving up 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning of relief, while LHP Jared Lyons tossed 2 scoreless innings to post his 7th save for the Snappers.

Third Baseman Javier Godard

(2 for 3 / 2 Walks / Stolen Base)

 

Starter Dustin Driver was charged with 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks in 1 1/3 innings of work to take the loss in his second rehab appearance on Wednesday, while 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Emerson Nelo gave up 4 runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief for the A’s. Third baseman Javier Godard singled twice, walked twice and stole a base, while shortstop Jesus Lage walked and doubled in a run, and center fielder Cole Gruber had a pair of singles and stole a base in the loss.
