Left fielder James Harris had a big night at the plate to help the Ports prevail on Thursday. The 22-year-old Oakland native homered for the second straight night, doubled twice, stole a base and drove in 4 runs, and the California League all-star is now hitting .375 with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs over his last 7 games for Stockton. Second baseman Mikey White had a pair of hits and drove in 3, while shortstop Richie Martin doubled in 2 runs, and catcher Argenis Raga and center fielder Seth Brown had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. Starter Matt Stalcup was a little shaky for Stockton, allowing 5 runs over 5 innings of work, but he still ended up picking up the win for the Ports. RHP Casey Meisner threw 4 scoreless innings in relief to earn his 1st save for Stockton.

Catcher Bruce Maxwell

19 hits, including 5 home runs, helped the Sounds coast to victory in their first game back after the all-star break on Thursday. Catcher Bruce Maxwell led the attack, collecting 4 hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in 3 runs, and Maxwell now has 8 hits in his last 10 at-bats for the Sounds to raise his season average to .297. Center fielder Jaycob Brugman belted a 3-run homer, while second baseman Joey Wendle and third baseman Renato Nunez both tagged 2-run homers, and first baseman Matt Olson slugged a solo shot for the Sounds. RHP Joel Seddon turned in his fourth straight quality start for the RockHounds, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering the loss on Thursday. Right fielder Tyler Marincov homered, singled and drew a pair of walks in the loss.

Starter Evan Manarino allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work, while RHP Dustin Driver gave up 3 runs in the 6th inning, and RHP Armando Ruiz surrendered 2 runs in the 7th to suffer the loss for the Snappers. Designated hitter Jose Chavez doubled in a pair of runs in the loss.

This year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brandon Bailey, made his debut for Vermont on Thursday, throwing 32 pitches over 1 2/3 innings while allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 4. RHP Brendan Butler gave up 5 runs, 4 earned, over 6 innings of work, to suffer his 1st loss for the Lake Monsters. 13th-round second baseman Nate Mondou continued his solid hitting for Vermont, collecting a pair of hits while also drawing a walk and scoring a run, and Mondou is now hitting .400 over his first 50 at-bats for the Lake Monsters. Designated hitter Eric Marinez singled in a pair of runs in the loss.

18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar allowed 3 runs, just 2 earned, over 5 innings of work, while 19-year-old Dominican RHP Wandisson Charles gave up 6 walks and was charged with 1 run in 2 innings of relief, and 22-year-old RHP Joseph Camacho, whom the A’s signed last month as a free agent out of Alabama State after he went undrafted, tossed 2 hitless innings in relief to earn his first professional victory on Thursday. Shortstop Jesus Lage tripled and scored twice, while center fielder Jeramiah McCray singled in the tying run in the top of the 9th inning for the A’s.
